Project Title: Flamenco dance, parody and response

Bridgit Lujan is an adjunct faculty at the UNM Honors College. She has been dancing since she was two, when she began attending Spanish folk dance classes. Since then, she has trained in classical ballet, jazz, flamenco, classical Spanish and Mexican folklorico dance and has an MFA in Choreography from Wilson College. Lujan founded her own national touring company, Dulce Flamenco International, Inc. and spearheaded flamenco dance courses at CNM. In 2017 she was nationally recognized with the Higher Education Award from Dance Teacher Magazine in NYC.  

Lujan, a UNM alumni, has been recognized with various awards at UNM including the 2016 Hall of Fame Young Alumni Award from UNM’s Anderson School of Management, the 2016 Inspirational Young Alumnus Award from the University of New Mexico Alumni Association, and in 2018 the Paul Bartlett Ré Peace Prize Career Achievement award.  

Bridgit will conduct research at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Spain during the 2022-2023 Academic year.
