Linda Melville is the Director for International Student and Scholar Services in the Global Education Office at UNM where she has served for 24 years. Linda is passionate about international education and the value international students bring to U.S. campuses and communities. Linda’s career as an international educator spans 35 years and includes work in international education administration, intercultural training, ESL instruction and teacher training. She has been a leader, trainer, and presenter in NAFSA - the premier professional association for international education administrators. She has been recognized with multiple professional awards through NAFSA and at UNM where she has been the recipient of the Provost’s Award for staff, the Faculty of Color Ally award, and the Luminaria Legacy Award.
Linda has a Master’s Degree in International Administration from the School for International Training and a Master’s in Linguistics/TESOL from California State University, San Jose. She has taught ESL in multiple countries and served as a Teacher Trainer at the National Teachers College in Libreville, Gabon as a part of the US Peace Corps before launching her career in international education administration.
Linda was a recipient of the 2025 Fulbright International Education Administrators award to Japan. The two week intensive experience provided an opportunity to learn about the Japanese educational system, meet with international education professionals and partners in Japan, establish important connections with other U.S. colleagues and educators selected for the experience, and to conduct a brief study regarding the perceptions of study abroad by Japanese students, parents and educators.
